The Colours of the Rainbow

"The Colours of the Rainbow, so pretty in the sky; are also on the faces, of people going by"

- What a Wonderful World, Sung by Louis Armstrong

Colour and light are vibrational energy, our own energy vibration is drawn to colour vibrations that resonates with us at this very moment for healing; whether healing denotes you need more of this vibration or less; it means this area in your life is out of sync and could use your attention.

Wearing this colour, or focused breathing while visualising the colour can help you internally to rebalance your energy vibration, or simply makes for a beautiful relaxing meditation!

Colours their vibrational meanings and associations:

RED

The colour red is associated with feeling secure, having a solid base, and feeling grounded; present and in the moment. When we are in balance in red we live in the present moment and can let go of the past and future and be here now. If red is out of balance we tend to dwell in our heads, letting our minds and thoughts rule our reality. To help rebalance this area of our lives, focus on the colour red, feel it engulf your body from the tips of your toes up to the top of your head, then hold that feeling/vision for as long as you can and until you feel totally connected and at one with your physical body. Walking in nature and exercise, such as Yoga and Pilates, are fantastic ways to connect with this energy as they bring your focus to the here and now and help you to connect with your physical self.

ORANGE

The colour orange is associated with emotions, and channelling our feelings in a healthy manner.  When we are able to name how we feel, and allow ourselves to express how we feel safely and in a healthy manner this area is in balance.  There are no right or wrong emotions, it is healthy to feel anger just as much as to feel happy; it is how we express our feelings that makes them healthy or unhealthy, good or bad.

However, if we try to bury our feelings; deny them, even to ourselves, or express them in unhealthy ways, then the energy vibration of orange can help to focus on this area for healing.  Mindfulness and meditation are some ways to help us connect to how we feel; to help us to become aware of and name our feelings, therefore, giving us back some control, that we may feel is lacking when a strong emotion or feeling takes over.

Focus on the colour orange and ask yourself, how do I feel? Accept the first answer that you receive and identify where this feeling is held in your body. Then ask yourself where has this come from, (I find asking the question "why?" until I feel there are no more answers to be had; helps me to identify the source of my feeling and to bring any feelings or emotions that I am feeling to the surface).

Another idea may be to use a journal to track your experience and identify which feelings you find easy to work with and which tend to cause the most distress. Reiki is a fantastic tool for working with feelings.

YELLOW

The colour yellow is associated with our mental body; our core beliefs about who we are and how we relate to the world around us.  When this area is in balance then we have a healthy outlook on life and our place in the world; however, if the area is out of balance we can have a low level of selfesteem or the opposite an very high opinion of ourselves.

Being drawn to the colour yellow can also denote how we cope with change in life.  Whether we are thrown by the unexpected, or whether we embrace change and flow with life.  If we find that life has become a bit of a rollarcoaster and we are no longer in control then using the colour yellow can help us to break through the storm and find the light.

Taking time to listen to our thoughts, to recoginse how we feel about ourselves; it's okay to be happy with yourself, it's okay to proud of yourself, it's okay to like yourself, and it's okay to think "I am worth it"......because you most definitely are worth it!

GREEN

Green is the colour of the heart, it is associated with Love in harmony and balance.   For this reason it is also associated with healing.  Healing does not necessarily mean a cure, but denotes finding peace within.  The colour green is associated with our feelings, but on a much deeper level than the colour orange.  Green will awaken our deepest buried feelings, those that have touched our souls and the feelings we hold deep within us.  When this area is out of balance we can be giving too much of ourselves to others, without allowing ourselves to receive in return.   If you are attracted to the colour green, ask yourself how much time do you take for yourself?  Do you give selflessly to others without accepting help in return?  It's time to balance the scales, you cannot give from an empty well, so ensure you take as much care of yourself as you do of others.  You deserve Love, especially for yourself.

BLUE

Blue is the colour of communication and how we express ourselves.  Communication is a two way thing.  It's just as important to stop and listen to what is happening around you.  Communication and expression do not mean that we need to constantly talk and express ourselves, it can mean we need to listen more, and perhaps pay attention to how we are currently expressing ourselves.  Are we getting our message across, or is it falling on deaf ears?  Perhaps, the communication is an internal one and some guidance is needed.  Meditation is a tool for communication with the self, with your soul, perhaps it's time to listen to the inner knowledge and wisdom that you already posess.

INDIGO

Indigo is the colour of inspiration and insight.  It is that feeling when you get the lightbulb going off in your brain, a sudden answer that seems to have come from nowhere.  When in balance this area of our lives is constantly giving us the nudge to go in the right direction and to make those decisions that will lead to the best path for us.  However, if this area is out of balance, we can feel stunted, trapped and not know what to do in a certain situation or what pathway to take in our lives.  This may denote one of two things, it may be you inner wisdom telling you to stop, and have patience that now is not the time to make those decisions, or it's asking you to look deeper at your current situation, are you asking for guidance from a place of fear, are you asking for another to make decisions for you.  Our lives, our destiny and our path are our responsibility; every decision we make has consequences, however, when we listen to our inner wisdom, our tranquil spirit, it will guide us to the decision that is for our highest good; these decisions are made from love and a place of peace, do not decide from fear.

Purple

The colour of royalty, purple is associated with letting go.  When you are drawn towards purple, you are being asked to surrender to what is and allow spirit (God, the universe, the Angels) to take it from here.  Often times we spend so much of our time and our energy worrying over things that we have no control over, whether it's other people's behaviour or actions, or waiting on news or a decision.  When something is outside our control, we have only one option give it to God, surrender, release it to the Angels and know that once you have done all you can to ensure a positive outcome what will be, will be.  Know that whatever comes your way, you have the ability to get through, just like you have gotten through everything else that life has thrown at you.  You are not alone and you are stronger than you know!

I hope you have enjoyed the meanings of the colours, if you know of other associations for the colours do please share, as you may just hold a message that someone else needs to hear!
